A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.
The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, October 16.
Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, October 16, in the Courthouse Basement Conference Room.
The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!
The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, for the General Election.
The Election Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4.
Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Voter Registration
The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, for the General Election.
After the pre-registration deadline, you must prove who you are (ID) and where you live (residence). The best document to bring is your valid Iowa driver's license with your current address. Election Day Registrations can be completed on Election Day at your polling place, when voting absentee in-person at the courthouse, or when voting absentee in-person at a satellite location.

Friday, November 1 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 2 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
