Important Dates and Information:

• The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5.
• Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. 
• Tuesday, August 27, is the first day absentee ballot request forms can be accepted for the General Election.
• The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, October 16.
• Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, October 16, in the Courthouse Basement Conference Room.
• The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21.  Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m.  Postmarks do not count!
• The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, for the General Election.
• The Election Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
• Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4.
• Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.  Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.

Voter Registration

The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, for the General Election.

After the pre-registration deadline, you must prove who you are (ID) and where you live (residence).  The best document to bring is your valid Iowa driver's license with your current address.  Election Day Registrations can be completed on Election Day at your polling place, when voting absentee in-person at the courthouse, or when voting absentee in-person at a satellite location.

Vote on Election Day:

• The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
• Voters must vote at their assigned polling place.
• Voters will need to provide identification at the polls. Click here for additional information.
• The Election Office will be open to answer general questions.
• There is no voting at the Election Office/Courthouse on Election Day.

Vote-by-Mail

• Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing and should be mailed or delivered to:

• Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Elections office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.  Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.

Absentee Voting In-Person

*Voting will take place in the Courthouse Basement Conference Room*

• Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, October 16.
• Absentee voting in-person will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of the extended hours listed below.
• Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4.

Extended Hours

Extended hours are available for voter registration and absentee voting in addition to regular hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., extended office hours will be as follows:

• Monday, October 21 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Friday, November 1 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday, November 2 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
