The Primary Election is an election to determine which candidates will qualify for the General Election for a given party. In Iowa you must be a member of the political party of which you wish to vote for in order to participate. This is known as a "closed primary." The primary election is held on the 1st Tuesday following the 1st Monday in June of each even-numbered year.
The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2.
Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Voter Registration:
The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closed at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
Election Day Registration (EDR) rules now apply which require you to prove who you are (ID) and where you live (residence). The best document to bring is your valid Iowa driver’s license with your current address. However, you can find the full list of acceptable documents at the link below.
The Election Office will be open to answer general questions.
There is no voting at the Election Office on Election Day.
