School and City Elections are combined and held in November of odd-numbered years. A City election is used to elect the Mayor and Council Members and any other elected city officials. A School Election is an election to select School Board members within the district.
Important Dates and Information:
The City/School Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, October 15.
Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, October 15, at the Election Office.
The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!
The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 20.
Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3.
Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Voter Registration:

After the pre-registration deadline, you must prove who you are (ID) and where you live (residence). The best document to bring is your valid Iowa driver’s license with your current address. However, you can find the full list of acceptable documents at the link below. Election Day Registrations can be completed on Election Day at your polling place or when voting absentee in-person at the courthouse.
